Clos Henri 2013 Sauvignons and 2012 and 2011 Pinot Noir

29-Nov-2013
The Bourgeois family are progessing their range of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines from the Greywacke riverbed, Broadbridge clay and Wither clay soiled vineyards in the southern Wairau Valley. The three tiers offered remain ‘Petit Clos’ which are approachable and more affordable, the ‘Bel Echo’ wines which are terroir expressive, opposite or alternative to those of the premium ’Clos Henri’ wines. The significant news is that as part of MANA Winegrowers, the 42 ha of vines on the 110 ha estate are now tended organically by vineyard manager Fabio Frangi. He and winemaker Damien Yvon have made the first fully certified organic wines with the 2013 vintage. Here, I review the 2013 ‘Petit Clos’ and ‘Bel Echo’ Sauvignon Blancs, along with Pinot Noirs from the 2012 and 2011 vintages. www.closhenri.com
