Charles Wiffen Pinot Rosé 2013

02-Sep-2013
This rosé is a first for Charles and Sandi Wiffen, and the wine extends the range of wines in their portfolio wonderfully. There’s something simply joyous about a bright and fresh rosé, uncomplicated and ‘naive’ if one is allowed to use the term. They say it’s the simple pleasures in life that are best, and if that’s the case, this wine has a lot going for it. Winemaker James Rowan, at West Brook, where the Charles Wiffen wines are made, was a little unsure how this would turn out, as being made by the saignée method, as it can alter the balance of the wine the juice is drawn off, but here, both the rosé and Pinot Noir from where it originated are successes. Here is my review of the new wine. It truly is delicious! www.charleswiffenwines.co.nz
