Charles Wiffen Marlborough Pinot Rosé 2015

I’m sure there’s a plan of succession at Charles Wiffen Wines. Charles and Sandi have Jason Tripe and Melissa Sutherland as their viticulturists, and Anthony Ivicevich and James Rowan of West Brook as their winemakers. It isn’t advertised much, but the Wiffen’s daughter Rebecca (Bec) has had a major input over the years in all aspects of the business. Afterall, she and her husband live on the ‘St. Clair’ property, owned by the family since 1907, around which the 50 ha of Wiffen vineyards are situated. Bec is one of the winemakers at Lawson’s Dry Hills, where some of the initial vinification for the Charles Wiffen wines is carried out. And indeed, there have been Charles Wiffen wines made wholly on site there, rather than at West Brook in Waimauku. The Charles Wiffen Marlborough Rosé 2015 is one such wine. Here is my review of it.
