Champagne de Castelnau Brut Reserve Edition 2010 and Rosé

Champagne de Castelnau was founded in 1916 and named in honour of General Eduard de Curieres de Castelnau, a World War One general, and it enjoyed the favour of the royal families and the French army since. In 2003, the house was acquired by the Cooperative Regionale des Vins de Champagne, based in Reims. The CRVC has 730 members with nearly 900 ha of vineyards from over 140 crus, and has Elisabeth Sarcelet as the winemaker. Champagne de Castelnau is known as the official supplier of the ASO, the organisers of Le Tour de France, and has released special edition bottlings of the ‘Brut Reserve’ in association with the bicycle race. Here, I review the ‘Brut Reserve’ Edition 2015 and Rosé Brut NV. The wines are imported and distributed in New Zealand by 3Winemen
