Caythorpe Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

27-Sep-2016
The Bishell family have been on their Marlborough property since 1880 and fifth generation Simon and Scott are archetype contemporary farmers who diversify and innovate to ensure the survival and profitability of their land. Their father Murray, wishing to farm conventionally, finally succumbed to pressure to plant grapes in 1987 as contract suppliers, and now the 110 ha of vines makes up over 57% of the farm area. With the 2015 vintage, the Bishells decided to make their own wine and contracted the highly experienced Jeremy McKenzie as their winemaker and consultant. Selecting parcels that offered the most flavour, they released a small quantity of Sauvignon Blanc in September last year (click here to see my review). For the next release, the Bishells have further differentiated their fruit to accentuate the flavours. I review the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc here. www.caythorpe.nz
