Cangrande Italian Wine Selection

03-Oct-2012
Falling in love with the country on vacation from Verona, Italy, Michele Marai decided to settle in Wellington, New Zealand arriving only a year ago. Though not professionally involved in wine in his home country, being born and bred in Veneto meant that wine was part of his culture, and he worked in vineyards and has an O.N.A.V. wine tasting diploma. Michele believes that the best Italian varieties are not as appreciated as they deserved and decided to create ‘Cangrande Italian Wine' as his own business importing a high quality Italian selection into New Zealand. At present he has 62 wines from 21 different suppliers in his portfolio, the wines coming from all the most important wine producing regions. His suppliers are people who have a "special bond with the land they work on” and who "try to make something special by enhancing the characteristics of the terroir, and not just doing what the market wants them to do”. Michele has just begun marketing his wines, and I review four from the range. www.cangrande.co.nz Michele can also be contacted on Tel: 04 212-6653 or Email: [email protected]
