Bridge Pa ‘Reserve’ Syrah 2009

Bridge Pa Vineyards is a Syrah specialist on Ngatarawa Road, the vineyard property purchased in 1998 by Lisa and Stephen Daysh who moved from Wellington with the express purpose of establishing a boutique wine business. A ‘Reserve' Syrah is the main wine and a flagship Syrah, named ‘Louis' after the Daysh's oldest son are produced, and these wines have received many top awards since the 2004 vintage. While Syrah is the focus, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc are also grown in the 13 ha vineyard, producing an estate blend. The vineyard features alluviale "Paki Paki sandy loam soils', also called "Taupo Pumice Sands”, and the wines are tended by brother-in-law Peter Hurley. The highly experienced and respected Rod McDonald has been winemaker since the 2008 vintage. www.bridgepa.co.nz
