Brennan Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

26-May-2016
Brennan Wines is a Central Otago Pinot Noir specialist producer with 13 ha of vines at the Queenstown end of the Kawarau Gorge. The Brennan family with land connections in the Gibbston district for over three decades originally sold their fruit to Peregrine, but began bottling their own wine with the 2006 vintage. The quality of the fruit and winemaking of Sean Brennan has seen considerable success for the wines. Sean was joined in 2014 by Sarah Burton, winemaker from Cloudy Bay, and this will no doubt have a significant impact on the wines. As Sarah is on maternity leave at present, Sean has resumed the winemaking responsibilities for 2016. Here, I review the next release of the Brennan Pinot Noir, the 2011 vintage. (Click here to see my review of the yet-to-be released 2012 which Sarah sent earlier this year. After tasting this 2011 wine and ascertaining a greater understanding of the house style, I believe I may have underestimated the quality of the 2012!) www.brennanwines.com
