Borthwick Gladstone 2012 Pinot Gris and Riesling

13-Mar-2014
Paddy Borthwick is an unassuming but influential man in the Wairarapa. The Borthwick Vineyard’s produce is exported widely and brings much recognition and kudos the Gladstone and the Wairarapa. Paddy established the family 27 ha estate in 1996 and has his 30-plus vintages experience in New Zealand and overseas, and the work of Braden Crosby behind the label in producing textbook varietals. Here, I review the 2012 Riesling and Pinot Gris releases from a very cool growing that ended with a fabulous autumn. Paddy reckons the year gave him some of the most aromatically intense whites to date. www.borthwick.co.nz
