Bladen 2016 Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Rosé

16-Sep-2016
Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Gris formed the basis of the 8 ha vineyard planted at Conders Bend Road, Renwick in 1989 by Chris and Dave Macdonald when they established Bladen Wines. The Macdonalds nowadays supplement their own fruit from their friends, the Tillys on Paynters Road, Fairhall, the Hunters on Alma Street, Renwick, and the McIntyres in Seddon. The wines are made by the Whitehaven team, and show a lovely delicacy and elegance of style. The Macdonalds introduced ‘Tin Cottage’ as their second label in 2008 for export and is named after their caravan. I review the latest 2016 releases. www.bladen.co.nz
