Black Cottage 2014 Rosé and Pinot Gris and 2013 Reserve Pinot Noir

24-Jul-2014
It must be extremely gratifying when a secondary brand takes off. Dave Clouston of Two Rivers will be a happy man considering the success of his ‘Black Cottage’ wines, named after his home in Marlborough. The accessible style of the wines, made from Marlborough fruit along with Pinot Noir sourced from Central Otago, allied to the affordable pricing and the good quality, will ensure Black Cottage will continue to grow. Here, I review the new 2014 Marlborough Rosé and Pinot Gris, and the 2013 ‘Reserve’ Central Otago Pinot Noir, no doubt released now to satisfy the demand. Being new releases, and although the wines are enjoyable, I feel they will benefit from some more time in bottle before they show their best. www.blackcottage.co.nz
