Black Barn is an artisan winegrower, located just 5 minutes from the village of Havelock North in Hawke's Bay Wine Country. But that’s not all they’re known for – Black Barn also offers luxury retreats, wedding and event venues, a summer growers’ market, a well-reputed Bistro and an amphitheatre that seats 2,000 for concerts and world-class events.
Their north-facing site has 10 ha of estate vineyards. It’s situated on the elevated lower slope of the Te Mata Hills and provides stunning views with a warm and sheltered micro-climate. All their wines are produced from their estate-grown fruit and many are available only through the cellar door and website.
Dave McKee is responsible for the viticulture and winemaking at Black Barn, who are known for their high-quality Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Bordeaux varietal wines, with forays into other varieties and styles. Dave has been in Hawke's Bay since 1991, first spending nine years at Church Road Winery prior to joining Black Barn Vineyards in 2001.
