Bernard Schurr Cotes du Rhone Villages 2014 – A Re-Look

20-Jan-2017
Bernard Schurr founded his southern Rhone winemaking venture ‘Les Courtilles’ in 1997. He makes small volumes of hand-crafted wines from parcels of old vines. His range is just three wines, a Cotes du Rhone, a Cotes du Rhone Villages, and a Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the first and last marketed under the ‘Les Courtilles’ brand, and the Villages wine under his own name. As of 2012, Bernard has been making his wines at Domaine de Lambisque, the Cotes du Rhone estate of his friend Laurent Delaunay. Misha Taylor of Procure Liquor, the distributor of the wines in New Zealand is particularly enjoying the Cotes du Rhone Villages 2014 and has asked me to have a re-look at what I’ve already rated well. The wine has begun developing savoury complexities. www.procureliquor.co.nz
