Barrington Vineyard is the Central Otago wine venture of the Smythe and Dowling families who in 2011 purchased an 8 ha site with 4 clones of Pinot Noir and some rogue interplanted Pinot Gris vines. The vines are 14 y.o. and are on two distinct soil types, the vineyard sited on Muttontown Road on the banks of the Clutha River in Alexandra. The vineyard is managed by the Smythe’s son-in-law Jim Redgrave, the fruit going to the Barrington label as well as being outsourced under contract. The Barrington wines are made by Antony Worch of Alexandra Vintners. www.barringtonwine.co.nz
