Barons and Potter 2014 ‘Countess’ Chardonnay and ‘Count’ Franc Merlot Blend

17-Mar-2016
Barons and Potter is the negotiant-style wine venture of Angela and Chris Barons who run the County Hotel in Napier as well as the New Zealand Wine Centre, and their friends Roy and Barbara Potter, business professionals. The enterprise was borne of their work with high quality boutique vineyards and winemakers. Barons and Potter purchases fruit and the wines are made under contract, the first releases based on the grapes from Crab Farm, with the wines made by Hamish Jardine. Future wines in their collection will include wines made from fruit beyond Hawke’s Bay. Here, I review the inaugural releases from the 2014 Hawke’s Bay vintage, ‘The Countess’ ‘Reserve’ Chardonnay and ‘The Count’ Cabernet Franc/Merlot/Malbec blend. www.baronsandpotter.co.nz
