  Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is softly full, open and accessible with sweetly ripe, dark-red berry fruit entwined with dark plums, and an amalgam of plum jam, dark herbs, nutty oak, unfolding complexing savoury stalk, earth and game suggestions. Medium-full bodied, this has up-front, aromatic and sweetly lush fruit flavours of dark red berryffruit, plums and hole berry fermentation jam elements, interwoven with subtle notes of dark herbs. The palate is gently mouthfilling, the fruit sweetness supported by fine-grained, supple tannin extraction and balanced, integrated acidity. The wine carries to a rich, fleshy, fruity finish with lingering nuances of red berry and plum fruit and hints of jam. This is an up-front, juicy and fleshy Pinot Noir with flavours of red berry and plum fruit on a fine, supple palate. Match with Asian cuisine, and poultry and pork dishes over the next 4-5 years. Pinot Noir fruit from three Awatere Valley sites, destemmed to leave a high percentage of whole berries, and fermented with 20% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 30% new French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 Mar 2017 RRP $31.00
