Ata Rangi – Three 13s – Celebre, Pinot Noir and Syrah

03-Jun-2015
Helen Masters, winemaker at Ata Rangi reports that "2013 is probably the most exciting vintage of the last decade” for them. Generally seen as a warm and dry vintage, the cool nights set the "fineness of the tannins, and added brightness and tension to the acidity”, says Helen. The result is a classic Martinborough vintage producing classic wines, which are "presenting beautifully now”. Helen added that the exceptional nature of the vintage allowed the making of wines of different varieties and styles to an equally high standard.

Ata Rangi are very excited to release the ‘Three 13s’, the red wines from the 2013 vintage, these being the ‘Celebre’, Pinot Noir and Syrah. They will mark a special time as Ata Rangi will be celebrating 35 years of winegrowing later this year. It appears there will be some special releases to accompany the celebrations. Here are my reviews of the ‘Three 13s’. The wines appear very concentrated and possess the structure to age extremely well. They all benefit with aeration to show their true facets and qualities. www.atarangi.co.nz
