36 Bottles 2015 Pinot Rosé and 2014 Pinot Noir

17-Nov-2015
Though ‘36 Bottles’ is in essence a virtual winery, owners Douglas Brett and Jane Young call themselves ‘winesmiths’, as they are fully involved in the making of their wines. Jane, coming from Central Otago, is very familiar with the land and the fruit sources, and Douglas is involved, hands-on in the making of the wines. The wines are made at the Maude winery facility in Wanaka, and Douglas regularly travels there to participate in harvest and the vinification, then to make decisions on blends and bottling. That’s why Douglas’ name features on the back labels as one of the winemakers! Here, I review the new release 2015 Pinot Rosé, now in its third vintage, and already a proven success, and the 2014 Pinot Noir, arguably the best since the inaugural 2008. www.36bottles.co.nz
