The trophy winners or the 2015 Spiegelau International Wine Competition were announced at an awards dinner in Auckland last night, the Champion Wine of the Show being the Esk Valley ‘Winemakers Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013. The Chardonnay class was the most successful in the show, with 14 golds from 145 entries, thus making the result particularly significant.
Villa Maria was awarded the Champion Producer Trophy with approx. 20% of its entries earning gold medals. In addition, Villa Maria won the Champion Rosé and Champion Sweet Wine trophies. The breadth across which Villa Maria won its golds is truly remarkable and demonstrates the company’s unrivalled performance in wine shows.
