The Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association and Firstlight Foods have teamed up for a fun promotion called ‘Snap the Perfect Pair’ that will appeal to wine lovers with a bent for cooking a wine and food match, or at least enjoy dining with good wine and food (that covers almost everybody!) The prize is a luxury wine and food weekend in Hawke’s Bay with two night’s accommodation, a winery lunch and dinner, along with a selection of Firstlight meat and two cases of Gimblett Gravels wine.
To enter the competition from a creative side, you’ll need to purchase a Firslight Foods product – such as venison or wagyu beef, and a Gimblett Gravels wine from a retailer, and create your own dish matched with the wine. Then take a photo and post it on the Gimblett Gravels Facebook page: www.facebook.com/gimblettgravels
Or simply dine at one of 13 participating restaurants in Auckland, Wellington and Hawke’s Bay, ordering the Firstlight/Gimblett Gravels match, take a picture of it and post it on the Gimblett Gravels Facebook page: www.facebook.com/gimblettgravels
The competition will be judged by renowned foodie Lauraine Jacobs who will select the winning Facebook image, “based on its relevance, fun and creativity”.
The competition will start on 20th October through to 14th November. A number of Auckland retailers will be encouraging their clientele to participate, these being: New World Vic Park, New World Remuera, and Farro Fresh stores. The Auckland restaurants involved are: Botswana Butchery, Harbourside, The Grill, Molten, Orphans Kitchen and SPQR. The Wellington restaurants are: Capitol, WBC and Cobar. The Hawke’s Bay restaurants are: Terrôir, Deliciosa, Te Awa and Mister D.
