The medal winners from the 2018 Marlborough Wine Show have been announced. From over 550 wines judged, there were 38 (c.6.9%) gold medals, 87 (c.15.8%) silver and 240 (c.43.6%) bronzes awarded, with a total of 365 (c.66.4%) of the wines entered winning an award. The most successful classes were Pinot Noir with 12 golds, Sauvignon Blanc with 9 and Chardonnay with 7 golds. The trophy winners will be announced on Friday 26 October, and will be posted on this site soon after.
The judging was held over 15-17 October in Blenheim, with Jack Glover chairing a team with Dr Jamie Goode, Matt Lamb and John Saker from outside Marlborough, with Anna Flowerday, Ben Glover, Jeremy McKenzie, Helen Morrison, Matt Murphy and Wendy Stuckey with Marlborough affiliations as winemakers.
This regional show is in its 8th year of judging, established by Belinda Jackson and Margaret Cresswell in 2011, but taken over by Wine Marlborough from this year. The show aims to highlight Marlborough wine excellence and its diversity.
