Winetopia is billed as New Zealand’s largest wine tasting event. Organised by Lemongrass Productions which organises high-end food and drinks events, Winetopia has Singapore Airlines as the major sponsor.

The Wintopia festivals are opportunities for wine lovers to meet winemakers and taste from hundreds of wines on offer from the country’s different wine regions accompanied by ‘expertly paired food, and music. The event was held in Auckland last year with three sold-out sessions, which are repeated for 2017, but includes Wellington this year.

Already there are 60 wineries participating in Auckland and around half that number in Wellington so far. The numbers will grow and be added to the lists as they happen. (There i room for 35 winery exhibitors in Wellington.) On hand will be a number of high-profile experts who will be presenting masterclass session. Nick Stock from Australia will be in Auckland, and Bob Campbell MW will be in Wellington. Notable sommeliers will also be present at talks and tasting classes.

In each city, there will be three 3 ½ hour sessions. Tickets start at $25.00 + Booking fee for entry to one session, 5 wine tasting tokens and a wine glass. Attendees will be able to purchase more tokens for the wine and food pairings. The general admission ticket is $35.00 + Booking Fee, and a Premium Mindfood ticket is $65.00 + Booking Fee which includes a goody bag, a glass of premium sparkling and a premium glass.

Attendees can enter the draw for a return flight for 2 to Paris at the Auckland event Wellington events. Details on this and for the masterclass sessions will be announced in due course.
