Wrights Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2012

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 01-Oct-2013

16+/20

Bright, even and full, light golden-yellow colour. The bouquet is full with a firm core of ripe yellow stonefruits, root ginger, creaming soda and a musky, herbal and mineral amalgam. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bold flavours of yellow stonefruits, tropical fruits and savoury musk and rose florals show with breadth and mouthfilling openness. The fruit firm in texture and expression, and dry in mouthfeel, the phenolic handling fine. Some acidity and alcohol carry the flavours to a dry, steely finish with some characteristic varietal bitterness. This is a strong and open flavoured dry Gewurztraminer with a firm, but open palate. Serve with Asian cuisine and semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from 30 y.o. vines, fermented on skins 3 days to 13.0% alc., the wine given some barrel aging. Certified AsureQuality Conversion organic. 16.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $28.00
