Morepork Northland Pinot Gris 2017

Pinot Gris from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 13-Aug-2017

17+/20

Bright, very pale straw colour, very pale on the edge. The nose is very elegant and restrained in expression, showing fresh white stonefruits with hints of florals and suggestions of honeysuckle. This has delicacy and purity. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is shy with restrained flavours of white stonefruits entwined with subtle notes of white florals and hints of honeysuckle. The fruit is expressed with clarity and underlined by a little alcohol drive. The wine flows along a very fine line, with integrated acidity, carrying to a lightly nuanced finish of stonefruits and honeysuckle. This is a dry Pinot Gris with delicate flavours of stonefruits’ florals and honeysuckle with a smooth line and some alcohol drive. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Morepork’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 5 g/L RS. 17.0+/20 Aug 2017 RRP $24.00
