Millton ‘Riverpoint Vineyard' Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 12-Jul-2012

18.5+/20

Full, moderately deep, light golden yellow colour. The nose is very full, generous and rich with densely packed aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits along with ginger and spices and exotic tropical fruits. Dryish to taste, beautifully rich and deep flavours flow in waves, revealing ripe exotic tropical fruits, musk, Turkish Delight, honey and gingery spices. The palate is weighty with great presence and mouthfilling flavours and a decadent rich, near unctuous texture cut by fine acidity and a little tingling prickle. The wine has excellent drive which carries through to a very long lingering finish that blossoms with layers of spice, smoke and musk nuances. This is a rich, weighty and decadent, but dry Gewurztraminer with a full array of ripe, spice and gingery flavours. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Riverpoint' vineyard, given skin contact and slow-fermented to 13.8% alc. and 7.0 g/L rs, the wine undergoing MLF in spring. Certified BioGro Organic. 18.5+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $23.95
