Millton ‘Crazy by Nature' Shotberry' Gisborne Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 30-Jul-2012

17+/20

Named after the intense little grapes of Mendoza clone Chardonnay. Certified organic and biodynamic fruit from the ‘Riverpoint' and ‘Opou' vineyards fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine given light oaking. Full, bright, straw-yellow with light golden hues. The nose full with bright and vibrant ripe, yellow stonefruit aromas, with notes of butterscotch MLF and subtle oak. Medium-bodied, there are concentrated, up-front flavours of stonefruits expressed with good richness and without complication, with some nuances of butter and nuts emerging in the glass. Good acidity enhances the fruit-driven nature and there is a soft creaminess to the texture, providing a lively, fresh mouthfeel. This is a fruit-forward Chardonnay with accessible textures and some detailed nuances. Serve with antipasto, pasta and white meat dishes over the next 2-3+ years. 17.0+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $20.00
