Matawhero Gisborne Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 28-Nov-2011

17+/20

Soft straw-yellow colour with light green hues, pale on rim. This has a soft, even nose of ripe pears with light spice and honey notes and a matty, musky attractiveness. Off-dry and medium-light weighted, this has a softly rich palate with gentle, luscious flavours of pears with tropical fruit notes and some honey. The textures are smooth and subtly mouthfilling, the moderate acidity contributing to the accessibility. The finish is soft with honey notes. This is an easy and up-front Pinot Gris with charming fruitiness. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. Made from new clone 457 fruit from the ‘Briant' vineyard situated between Patutahi and Manutuke, cool-fermented to 12.8% alc. and 6.3 g/L rs. 17.0+/20 Nov 2011 RRP $25.90
