Eden Sparkling NV

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 03-Mar-2012

15.5-/20

Made from >70% Muscat with the balance being Chardonnay and Pinotage, the fruit from Gisborne, the wine carbonated, and is 7.5% alc. Very pale pink colour near clear on rim, with small bubbles, not very persistent. The nose is fresh and attractively fruity with muscat grapey aromas along with musk, strawberries and some confectionary elements. Medium in sweetness, this is light bodied, with musky, floral and grapey flavours well-presented on palate, with hints of strawberry sherbet and raspberry boiled sweets. The residual sugar is noticeable and cloys a little, this exacerbated by little lasting effervescence, and sweet strawberry and musk flavours linger. This is a clean and fruity sparkling, well-made, the sweetness a little on the cloying side. Serve as an aperitif or with summer fruit desserts over the next 18 months. 15.5-/20 Mar 2012 RRP $14.99
