Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly fresh, tightly focussed and light, but penetrating with aromas of blackcurrants, dark herbs, cassis liqueur and subtle aromatic stalk elements. Medium-bodied and fine in presentation, the palate possesses tight and slightly reserved flavours of sweet blackcurrants entwined with fresh dark herbs and soft stalky notes. The mouthfeel is fresh, lively and bright with brisk acidity and moderate extraction lends a fine-grained, textural line. The wine flows with good energy and tension to a lingering finish of currants and herbs. This is an elegant and intense Cabernet/Merlot blend with curranty and herb flavours on a lively, fine and firm-textured palate. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 4+ years. A blend of 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 29% Merlot and 5% Syrah fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 month in 25% new French oak casks. 17.0-/20 Aug 2016 RRP $30.00
