Coopers Creek 'Select Vineyards – The Bell-Ringer' Gisborne Albarino 2012

Other White from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 07-Feb-2013

18.5-/20

Brilliant straw-yellow colour, pale on edge. The bouquet is finely expressed with fresh, tightly bound aromas of white florals with stonefruits, nuts and minerally elements. The nose opens to reveal detailed aromatic nuances that build in intensity and depth. Off-dry to taste, subtly rich flavours of white stonefruits and florals, with mineral notes flow seamlessly through the palate. The sweetness is balanced by fresh, lacy acidity, and the mouthfeel is smooth and fine in its mouthfilling nature. The phenolics have been handled beautifully. The finish shows delicate honeysuckle flavours supported by gentle sweetness and is lingering. This is a beautifully balanced Albarino with pleasing subtleties and delicate sweetness. Serve with Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Doug and Delwyn Bell's vineyard, tank-fermented with 15% by indigenous yeasts in old oak to 12.0% alc. and 7.5 g/L rs, the wine blended and aged on lees for 3 months. 18.5- Aug 2012 RRP $21.00
