Clos de Ste Anne ‘Naboth's Vineyard' Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 17-Apr-2012

19+/20

Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on edge. This has a full, rich bright fruited nose of ripe citrus fruits, peaches and nectarines intermingling with cream and buttery nuances and subtle, nutty oak notes. The aromatics are concentrated and still tightly bound. Full-bodied, the flavours unfold with grace, filling the palate with a complex amalgam of ripe citrus fruit, yellow stonefruits, butter and spicy oak. Creamy barrel-ferment textures feature with power and richness, balanced by an underlying acid freshness. The finish is very long and sustained, with layers of creamy, spicy flavours. This is a complex and rich Chardonnay with an excellent creaminess of texture to match with poultry and pork over the next 5-6+ years. Fruit from the older plantings of the original ‘Naboth's Vineyard' hand-picked and barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 10 months in barrel on lees with partial MLF. Certified Organic and Biodynamic grapes. 19.0+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $70.00
