Clos de Ste Anne ‘Les Arbres' Viognier 2010

Viognier from New Zealand – Gisborne
Review Date - 17-Apr-2012

19-/20

Fruit from the ‘Les Arbres' section in the lie of the forest, WBP and warm-fermented in 600 L demi-muid barrels to 14.5% alc. and 2.0 g/L rs. Certified Organic and Biodynamic grapes. Bright, light golden yellow colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly full and gently layered, unfolding aromas of orange zest, apricots, exotic fruits and ginger with great interest. Dry, full-bodied with mouthfilling flavours of orange zest and tropical fruits, this has interwoven notes of ginger and saline nuances. The palate has alcoholic power, allied to concentrated and rich fruit, and the textures are near-unctuous, but crisp, racy acidity provides excellent balance. The wine has real drive and energy, and the freshness carries to a very long finish featuring lush fruit and minerally elements. This is a rich, layered and powerful Viognier with excellent acidity and tension. Match with creamy seafood and poultry dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 19.0-/20 Apr 2012 RRP $55.00
