Tempranillo fruit from the ‘Spade Oak’ vineyard, destemmed
and given 2 days cold soak and fermented in stainless-steel to 12.4% alc. and 8
g/L RS. Soft.pink-red colour with some
depth, and lighter purple hues on edge.
The bouquet is fresh and tightly bound with focussed aromas of fresh
raspberry and red cherry fruit, and subtle nuances of confectionary, spices and
herbs. Dryish to taste, full, up-front
rich and juicy flavours of raspberries and strawberries fill the mouth with
good weight and rounded presence, and a little structural grip. Bright and lively acidity enlivens the
mouthfeel, and the palate is thirst-quenching as it follows a fine, textured
line. The wine flows easily, with smooth
and slippery acidity carrying the flavours to a racy, crisp finish that reveals
earth-tinged raspberry elements. This is
a fresh, up-front, raspberry-fruited, mouthwatering rosé with the structure to match a variety of foods. Serve with tapas and Mediterranean fare over
the next 2 years. 100% Tempranillo, 150
dozen made. 17.5-/20 Nov 2013
