Botrytised fruit hand-picked at an average of 38° Brix, destemmed and
fermented in a 1,200 L German oak oval to 11.0% alc. and 180 g/L rs, the wine
aged 11 months before bottling. 2007 is
regarded as the ‘grand vintage’ by Nick Nobilo.
Deep golden-yellow with orange hues to the colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full and densely packed with
masses of ripe tropical fruits, marmalade, honey and exotic florals, unfolding
layers of musk, caramel and crystalised fruits, all harmoniously entwined. Very sweet and luscious to taste, the
mouthfeel is very soft and rounded, with unctuous textures and great depth and
weight. A full range of exotic and
decadent flavours is present, from crystalised fruits, marmalade, ginger, honey
and musk. The flavours are mouthfilling
and the palate very smooth flowing, with acidity low, enhancing the richness
and opulence. Barley sugar, caramel and
toffee notes emerge and are carried on a long, lingering finish. This is a densely packed, opulent and exotic Gewurztraminer
dessert wine with unctuousness and real weight.
Serve with caramel desserts and crème brulee over the next 6-8 years. (375 ml)
