The inaugural release of a second tier to ‘Vinoptima’ named
in honour of the original site of the Gewurztraminer plantings for
Nobilos. Hand-picked fruit given some
skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel and large German oak foudres to
14.0% alc. and 13.9 g/L rs. Bright, golden-hued
straw yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is full, broad and even with
lifted aromatics and esters, exotic florals, hints of tropical fruits and
honey, revealing spices, ginger and creaming soda notes. Medium in sweetness, the flavours of exotic
tropical fruits, Turkish Delight and lifted florals are restrained in
expression, but show with rich lusciousness, weight and depth. There is a dense core driven by alcoholic
power, but this is balanced by underlying acidity which balances the richness,
resulting in a fine creamy texture. The weight
and flavours carry through to a solid and fulsome finish with honey and
creaming soda flavours that linger. This
is a full, rich and weighty Gewurztraminer with lifted and exotic fruit and fine,
balanced, creamy textures. Serve with
Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 4-5+ years. 18.0+/20
