Rose from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 18-Sep-2017

17/20
Light
cerise-pink colour with some depth, lighter on the rim with light purple
tints. The nose is fresh with a gently
concentrated, rich heart of strawberries, raspberries and pomegranate, with red
floral notes, a little confectionary and suggestions of mouthwatering minerals. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate
has a concentrated core of raspberries, strawberries and pomegranate, revealing
red florals and confectionary with mineral elements. The wine has plenty of presence and soft
fruit extract textures, along with lacy acidity which carries the wine to a
dry, thirst-quenching finish. This is a
gently concentrated dry rosé with weight and fruit extract, showing raspberry, strawberry
and pomegranate fruit flavours along with a mouthwatering confectionary and
mineral amalgam. Serve with antipasto
and tapas over the next 2 years. 100%
Syrah from the ‘View East’ vineyard, cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and
4.2 g/L RS, the wine aged in stainless-steel for 2 month. 110 dozen made. 17.0/20
