Te Motu Waiheke Island 2010
Blended Red from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland

Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues on the
rim. The bouquet is full and firmly
concentrated with densely packed aromas of ripe blackberried fruit harmoniously
melded with a layer of black earth, dark herbs, unfolding blackcurrant and
mineral notes. The nose reveals lifted
oak with aeration. This is refined in
expression. Medium-full bodied, the
palate has concentrated and intense, vibrantly sweet flavours of blackcurrants,
black plums and cassis liqueur. The
fruit richness is balanced by fine-grained powdery tannins and the mouthfeel is
enlivened by softly ripe, lacy acidity.
The wine has power and linearity, and carries to a long and sustained
finish of black fruits intermingling with pencilly and cedary oak. This is a ripe, tight and concentrated
Cabernet Sauvignon blend with rich black fruits and fine-grained structure, with
power and linearity. Serve with roasted
lamb, beef and venison, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 8-10+ years. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot
and 5% Cabernet Franc fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 20%
new French oak. 19.0-/20 Mar 2017
