Te Motu Waiheke Island 2012
Blended Red from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland

18/20
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour with a little garnet on the
rim. The nose is full with soft layers
of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits unfolding notes of blackcurrants and
cassis, with fragrant red fruits and pencilly oak. Subtle notes of dried herbs with suggestions
of earth, game and funky detail unfold with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rich
core of savoury dark-red berry fruit along with dark plums, entwined with dried
herbs, earth and funky game interest.
The fruit has richness and is encased by fine-grained tannin
structure. The mouthfeel is
dry-textured, and soft, integrated acidity enhances the grip. The wine carries to a light, savoury berry
fruited finish with herbs and earth.
This is a savoury, dark-red berry fruited Cabernet Sauvignon blend with
dried herb, game and earthy flavours on a dry, textural, structured
palate. Match with casseroles and
slow-cooked game meat dishes over the next 5-7+ years. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot
and 5% Cabernet Franc fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 20%
new French oak. 18.0/20 Mar 2017
