Pinot Gris from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 26-Jul-2016

16.5+/20
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, paler on edge. The nose is light and tightly held with
aromas of white stonefruits and nutty notes along with savoury lees elements
and reductive nuances adding a layer of interest. White florals and fresh herbs emerge with
aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied,
the palate possesses gently rich flavours of savoury stonefruits along with
subtle nutty and lees complexities, unfolding floral aromatic elements. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded with
underlying acidity lending energy. The
wine carries with some alcohol drive to a slender finish of stonefruits and
nuts. This is a gently rich, dry Pinot
Gris with savoury stonefruit flavours and nutty lees detail and positive drive
and line. Serve with most white meat
dishes and Mediterranean fare over the next 3 years. Fruit tank-fermented to 13.8% alc. and 3.3 g/L
RS, with 40% aged in French oak undergoing batonnage. 16.5+/20
