Viognier from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 03-Jul-2016

19-/20
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues, very
pale on the rim. The nose is softly full
and gently voluminous with aroma of ripe tropical fruits, exotic florals,
citrus fruits and musk, unfolding nutty oak and flinty lees elements. The aromatics grow to show density and a
concentrated core. Dry to taste and
full-bodied, rich and lusciously bold, sweetly ripe fruit flavours of exotic
tropical fruits, florals, citrus zest, honey and musk show with complexing
lees, flint and nutty detail. The rich,
fleshy palate is supported by underlying alcoholic body guiding the wine. Soft acidity enhances the opulence, and the
wine carries to a long, exotic nuanced finish.
This is a rich, lusciously exotic Viognier with exotic tropical fruit,
citrus zest, honey and musk, with a fulsome, balanced palate. Match with Middle Eastern fare over the next
4+ years. Fruit from ‘Shepherd Point’,
