Ti Point Matakana Coast Merlot/Cabernet Franc 2014
Blended Red from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 07-Dec-2015

16.5+/20
Dark ruby-red colour with a lighter rim. This has a soft and gently voluminous Nose of
savoury red berry fruits melded with aromas of dried herbs, tobacco and subtle
leathery notes. The aromatics are
harmoniously interwoven. Medium-bodied,
the palate features a soft, rounded core that unveils light and ethereal
flavours of savoury red berry and plum fruit, along with earth, dried herb and
tobacco notes. The acidity is soft, and
light, drying tannins emerge to carry the palate to a tight, finely
concentrated finish of liquorice and dried herbs. This is a restrained Melot and Franc blend
with savoury red fruit and earthy flavours, and a light, dry structure. Match with casseroles and semi-hard cheeses
over the next 3-4 years. Merlot and
Cabernet Franc fruit from the Matakana Coast, fermented to 14.0% alc, the wine
aged 12 months in French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Dec 2015
