Dark, deep ruby-red colour with a black heart and lighter
garnet on the rim. The nose is firm and
elegantly concentrated with savoury blackcurrant fruit aromas along with cassis
and nuances of dried herbs and secondary undergrowth interest. Subtle nuances of mint, cedar and pencil
shavings oak unfold. Medium-bodied and
elegantly proportioned, the flavours of blackcurrants and cassis form a tight,
fine core. The fruit has purity,
freshness and liveliness, enhanced by bright, lacy acidity. Fresh herb and minty nuances intermingle with
a little earthy detail showing some development notes. The wine follows a fine-grained tannin line,
and the wine has balance and restrained structure which carries the flavours to
a lingering, blackcurranty finish. This
is an elegant, fresh, fine-grained Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with
blackcurrant and cassis notes. Match
with roast lamb over the next 6-7 years.
A blend of approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet
Franc fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine aged as components for 12 months in 25%
new French oak, blended and given another 6 months in barrel. 18.0+/20
