Te Motu Waiheke Island 2004
Blended Red from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland

Full, dark, black-hued garnet-red colour with a little
bricking on rim. This has a full, evenly
presented and elegant bouquet of savoury dark red berry and plum fruit
interwoven with layers of dried herbs, game, undergrowth and waves of
cedar. A soft, concentrated core is
revealed with aeration. Medium-bodied,
the palate is fine in proportion with gently sweet flavours of red plums and berry
fruits melded with soft earth and cedar notes, unveiling subtle dried herb
notes. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing
with fine-grained tannin textures, but balanced by fresh acidity. This has good tension, and a slender
linearity that leads to a long, sustained finish with secondary cedar and
undergrowth elements. This is a
soft-textured, fine-featured Bordeaux-blend with waves of secondary cedary
flavours and softly sweet red berry and plum fruit. Serve with pork, veal and roast lamb over the
next 4+ years. A blend of approximately
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc fermented to 13.2%
alc., the wine aged as components for 12 months in 25% new French oak, blended
and given another 6 months in barrel. 18.0-/20 Nov 2015
