Paroa Bay Bay of Islands Chardonnay 2014
Chardonnay from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 10-Oct-2015

16.5+/20
Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green
hues. This has a very elegant and finely
presented nose of white stonefruits, white florals and citrus fruits that
unfold nutty barrel-ferment elements and complexing flint and mineral lees and
reductive nuances. Medium bodied and
elegant in proportion, white stonefruits and citrus fruit show with some
sweetness and richness. The palate
reveals subtle layers of nutty oak and gunflint mineral complexities and detail
as it flows along a fine-textured line.
This is softly refreshing with balanced and integrated acidity, and the
wine leads to a light, sustained finish with flinty notes. This is an elegant and balanced Chardonnay
with stonefruit flavours and nutty, flinty detail and complexities. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next
3+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and
fully barrel-fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 50% new oak,
the wine undergoing batonnage and MLF. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015
