Turanga Creek ‘Down to Earth’ Auckland Pinot Gris 2014
Pinot Gris from New Zealand – Northland & Auckland
Review Date - 06-Oct-2015

16.5+/20
Hand-picked organic fruit from the Whitford vineyard, WBP
and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and <1 g/L RS, the wine
undergoing batonnage. Bright pale
straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, very pale on rim. The nose is tight with fresh and chalky white
and yellow stonefruit aromas along with subtle white florals and a suggestion
of steely, savoury minerals. This
unfolds nutty nuances and is light and fresh in the Pinot Grigio style. Dry to taste and medium to medium-full
bodied, the palate features a positive core of savoury white and yellow
stonefruits entwined with nutty and mineral elements. The fruit has depth and linear flow, guided
by a fine phenolic line that lends some palate grip and dryness. The wine flows to a dry, mouthwatering and
firm finish. This is a firm, dry, Pinot
Grigio style with a firm stonefruited
line. Serve with seafood and antipasto
over the next 2 years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015
