Sisters Ridge North Canterbury Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand – Canterbury & Waipara

17+/20

Bright straw-yellow colour with hints of lemon-gold hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and gently full with moderately deep aromas of tropical fruit entwined with gooseberries and green capsicums, sweet fresh herbs along with a floral lift. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has gently rich and luscious flavours of tropical fruits, sweet gooseberries, notes of green capsicums and herbs. The flavours form a rounded core and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The wine flows along a light-textured phenolic line leading to a lingering finish. This is a sweetly rich and lush, tropical-fruited dry Sauvignon Blanc with a good core, light textures and a fresh mouthfeel. Match with salads and vegetables and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Sisters Ridge North Canterbury Pinot Noir 2017

Pinot Noir from New Zealand – Canterbury & Waipara

17/20

Ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter edged with pale purple tints. The nose is tightly bound, a little shy in expression initially, with a fine core of dark-red cherry and berry fruit melded with dark herbs and spicy oak, along with complexing earthy detail. The aromatics build in intensity with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate has an elegantly concentrated core with gently packed flavours of dark-red berry fruit entwined with notes of spice, a little liquorice, dark herbs and subtle earthy elements. The fruit sweetness is balanced by light, supple tannin extraction and the acidity is integrated, providing background energy. The flavours recede a little on the finish. This is a gently packed Pinot Noir with dark red berry fruit flavours with some oak spice and subtle herb notes on a supple, light-textured palate. Match with tapas, poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. A blend of up to 13 clones, predominantly 667 and 777, hand-picked, destemmed to whole berries and fermented to 12.5% alc., he wine on skins two weeks post-ferment and aged 10 months in 15% French oak. 1,288 cases made. 17.0/20 Nov 2018 RRP $ 18.50
